Investigative Exercise 11 Recommendations

The Leichhardt public library while not completely lacking in web 2.0 technology could learn a few things from other libraries here I have created my perfect library as far as web 2.0 is concerned tell me if you agree

1.      Local Studies
In an earlier post I looked at John Oxley Library Blog and mentioned the way it show cased the historical collect of the library in an engaging way Leichhardt has had more them enough historical significance to warrant a blog like this as a matter of fact the local history dept is already in the process of collecting audio interview with some of Leichhardt’s oldest residence engaging people to share their own opinions and experiences could greatly enhance this section

2.      Children’s, Teenage/Youth
The Los Angeles public library has a mid blowing website set up for young adults this in my opinion could be the end all be all of teen library relations

But I’d take it a little bit further add forums instead of opinion polls as well as ways for the view to community their issues with the library in  privet to a library employee or a councilor for personal problems

3.      Adult Fiction
Very few people think about web 2.0 when it comes to the adult fiction section but so many things spring to mind online book clubs debates on the latest best seller over forums and contact the librarians suggesting different novels that they would want to read giving the selector a way of keeping up with the general publics reading trends

4.      Information/Reference
Tags are always useful within catalogues as well as personal review left by book library users and librarians in the subject of the book and its usefulness

I could imagine local high school and primary school teachers leaving short words of praise for resource that they feel could help their students with different assignments while the students might tags the material that setts it self apart in a particular topic

The library staff might not have time to go though and look at each resource in depth by the general public certainly do

So there is my vision of a perfect library hope you like it
